I look around, here and there, on facebook and on pages of some khmer media etc, I see all the angers, I see words of insults, disgusts, discrimination, prejudice, and fury of one people towards another. On a facebook page called "I love Cambodia, I hate Thailand", its fans have been really expressive in their opinions, and they've been using vulgar words and disturbing pictures to insult another country and another people. That's a shame that there's such a things; I hope this only continues for a while.
I've already reported the page as offensive and pornographic; however, nothing has been done yet; I wonder why Facebook still hasn't removed the page. It should really be removed; its presence would just make people of both sides feel more hateful towards one another. I myself was prepared not to feel any prejudice or to over-stereotype the Thai people, because I still believe there are still a lot of good people out there who do not deserve animosity and what we've been hearing from our media these days could be misleading; plus, it's no good feeling angry. No matter how prepared I am though, getting to read some of demeaning words posted on that page did somehow push up my anger. Therefore, in order not to spoil our feeling and continue to feel cool, that awful page should be avoided.
Personally, I don't think this is how things should be at all; such things would never ever lead to any sort of solutions but disastrous consequences. After all, what good would it bring? How are expressions like, "I hate Thai", "Fuck Thai", etc. going to help in this bitter situation? If any side for whom the insults were meant, it would just make the anger and the hatred they've already had become stronger, escalating the existing tensions and making the situation worse and worse. One fact each people needs to be bear in mind is that both countries are, and we will always be, neigbours, unless one nation suffer great losses. Therefore, either we learn to appreciate and respect each other, or the two countries can never live happily with undisturbed peace.
